Someone with $450K cap gains decided to sell down over ten years. Under old system they'd pay just $906 tax per year, or $9060 over ten. Under new it's $135,000 + indexation. I completely disagree with you OP....

It will be truly hilarious if it's the Greens that end up blocking the bill. Maybe everyone should lobby the Greens to remove the grandfathering

I'm surprised how a 30% minimum CGT is being slipped in under the guise of "fairness". I never understood how people triggering CGT in a low income year was a problem in the first place, nor how it relates decreasing house prices, especially since it affects...

Still needs to get through the senate, and they need 9 non-Labor votes. It’s not necessarily a given the Greens will support it in its current form - given they want the changes to go even further....

Kids have been saving with direct shares for years. They can't afford a house yet and drive old second hand cars. Reddit and Labor call them rich because they have some shares.
