Sony single-player games won’t be released on Steam anymore, CEO confirms.

Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Hermen Hulst confirmed during a company town hall that Sony will no longer release its big single-player titles on PC. Online games such as *Marathon* and *MARVEL Tokon: Fighting Souls* will still be made available on PC, while external publishing deals like *Kena: Scars of Kosmora* are not affected.

This marks a reversal of Sony's recent strategy of bringing flagship single-player games to PC after a timed exclusivity period, potentially limiting the audience for upcoming titles like *Marvel's Wolverine* and *Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet*.

Key details

  • Sony's Studio Business Group CEO Hermen Hulst confirmed the decision during a company town hall, as reported by Bloomberg's Jason Schreier.
  • The confirmation follows a March Bloomberg report that *Ghost of Yotei* and *Saros* would remain PS5 exclusives.
  • Online games like *Marathon* and *MARVEL Tokon: Fighting Souls* will still be released on PC.
  • External publishing deals, such as *Kena: Scars of Kosmora*, are not affected by the policy change.

Discussion angles

  • Many commenters expressed indifference, noting they already have a large backlog of single-player games on Steam.
  • Several users predicted Sony will eventually reverse this decision to pursue PC revenue.
  • A common sentiment was frustration and a refusal to buy a PlayStation console solely for these exclusives.
  • Some argued that the long exclusivity periods for past titles like *God of War* and *Horizon* already failed to convert PC players to PS5, making this audience a lost cause for Sony.

A few expressed disappointment but stated they would not buy a PlayStation console as a result.

That's okay, I've got more than enough single player games on Steam.

Shame, I liked to play Horizon and GoW, but I'm not going to buy into another system because of them.

"Sony confirms they do not like free money anymore" If the God of War, Horizon and Ghost series witch had long period of exclusivity on PS5 didn't convince people do get a PS5, that's a dead audience for Sony....
